My new fave! I love the flavor and lightness of this coffee. Even when i find an unfinished cup from earlier in the day the aroma is still amazing. Thanks Rob!
Notes: Grape Candy | Nutmeg | Floral
Region: Kapchorwa, Uganda
Elevation: 1600 - 1800 MASL
Varietals: SL14 & SL28
Process: Natural
Roast: Medium
The Coffee:
This is an exceptional daily drinker that plays in all brewing formats. With hand pours we get bright grape candy notes followed by bakers brown nutmeg notes and delicate florals. As espresso this is a syrupy shot that is phenomenal, while pairing perfectly with milk.
The Producer:
High on the slopes of Uganda’s famed Mt. Elgon, the Kapchorwa region produces some of the country’s most delicately structured Arabica coffees.
Mt. Elgon rises along Uganda’s eastern border, its high elevations and volcanic soils creating ideal conditions for slow ripening Arabica. Kapchorwa sits at around 1,800 masl, where cool temperatures and roughly 1,500 mm of annual rainfall help develop dense beans and bright, refined acidity.
The “SL” in SL14 and SL28 refers to Scott Laboratories, a Kenyan agricultural research center known for identifying and developing high-performing coffee varieties. SL28 was selected for its exceptional cup quality and drought resilience. SL14 was identified for its adaptability and consistently high-quality cup potential across East Africa’s varied environments.
