The Coffee: A screen grade 15 Kenyan peaberry roasted light medium this coffee is rich, creamy, vibrant and juicy. A coffee with classic characteristics you'd come to expect from this heralded origin. Our shop agrees the complexity of this coffee comes in a wide range of notes that include date, honey, nectarine, sun tea, lemon and cola. A syrupy cup that's creamy in texture with a citrus acidity to the finish. We love this one brewed at higher temps in pour over format, with aeropress and espresso an amazing option too.
The Producer: Single origin, single source, this coffee is grown and processed at Ibonia Estate situated just north of Nairobi in Kiambu County where the property spans nearly 200 hectares – 60% of which is natural forest, wetlands, rivers and wildlife. The rest is dedicated to coffee where the genetics are dominated by SL28s. The land in this region is rich, red Kikuyu clay loam offering premium nutrient bioavailability for their plants allowing for slow maturation and optimal sugar production. Processing is controlled at the estate and the management practices are top-notch, classic double-fermented and washed.
