The Producer: This coffee comes to us as a community lot from the Aponte Village in Nariño, Colombia. Grown at the sky high reaches of over 7000 feet this mountain community is made up of indigenous people of the Inga Tribe. Direct descendants of pre-colonial Incas. Their community rests in a rugged mountainous territory whose geographical location created a natural refuge and isolation, one in which was exploited in the 80s by criminal groups who used this farming community to produce illicit crops. As recent as 15 years ago the Colombian government pushed out the traffickers and eradicated their crops, bringing forth to these people a very specific strain of coffee for them to farm. With nutrient rich ash from the nearby Galeras Volcano the Ingas have since thrived growing beautiful and expressive coffees from a very specific origin.
