The Producer: La Morena coffee began as a program so female coffee growers of Guatemala had greater access to the global market. What started as a small micro lot in 2016, La Morena now draws coffee from women farmers throughout the regions of Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz. This particular female driven community lot comes from Cubulco, Baja Verapaz a region known for its coffee growing. Alongside high altitude that allows for cooler nights and a drier climate farmers can grow some of the finest arabica available. With its rich volcanic soil, steep mountain terrain, and various micro-climates, Guatemala is ideal for its cultivation.
